Video Proposal for Bilbao Project

Sculptor Richard Serra recruited Dennis Diamond and Video D Studios to create this video proposal for the Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum, Bilbao, Spain. The 21 minute recording was presented, in Spain, to the Bilbao grants committee. Serra received a $20 million commission for his project.

In the video, Serra presents the model of the proposed sculpture installation and explains and illustrates his concept for this work of art.

The New York Times reported on February 27, 2004, "The Solomon R. Guggenheim Museum has given Richard Serra... one of the grandest but also one of the most expensive contemporary art commmissions of any museum in the world..."
